Top Tips for the Festival

Apr 22, 2013

Let the countdown begin…

You already know that the second annual festival weekend will be a smorgasbord of sips, samples and new-found favorite foods. But we’d recommend that in order to maximize your experience, you should definitely check out the schedule in advance in order to plan which demos, panels and activities you won’t want to miss. Even the best-laid plans have a tendency to change, but it never hurts to set your wishlists in advance! Seating begins 15 minutes prior to the each demo and will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early. Lucky for you, we’ve developed a mobile app to help your Festival to-do list as organized – and accessible! – as possible…

iPhone and Android users, check out the video below for all of the app’s awesome features. From the Custom Schedule feature that lets you mark your favorites, the Interactive Festival Map that lets you click on a tent to see what’s going on at that moment to the robust content about the Festival’s top talent, you’ll want to have this powerful tool on your phone and at your fingertips!

To pick up your SAVOR Passes (or TASTE Passes & add-ons purchased after April 14th), enter The Four Seasons Hotel Lobby & turn right to take the elevator up to the 4th floor. Turn left & proceed to Boardroom 416, the first door on your left.

There’s still time to purchase a SAVOR Pass for your chance to enjoy the Taste of Texas Festival Kickoff (with music from Delta Spirit and Whiskey Shivers) on Friday night and the Rock Your Taco Celebrity Chef Showdown (with music from Allen Stone) on Saturday night. Trust us, these parties-under-the-stars are the perfect way to wind down your day in the Live Music Capital of the World. Cheers!

You’ll need both to get into anything and everything at the Festival — don’t leave home without them! Also, remember that the Festival is 21+.

We’ll be sharing live dispatches from Butler Park all weekend, so make sure you follow along and join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Our official hashtag for the weekend is: #afwfest

Although most events will be held in individually tented areas, you’ll likely spend some time in the Texas sun, so make sure to throw some sunscreen in your bag and take advantage of the complimentary Evamor water found throughout the park. Also, events at Butler Park and Republic Square Park take place on park land, so keep in mind (for the purpose of footwear) that although there is temporary flooring in some areas, the grounds will be grass-covered as well.

Our friends at Food Republic are bringing their culinary dialogues back to AFWF this year with The Food Republic Interview Lounge at the W Austin on Friday, April 26. Kicking off at 11 a.m. and running all day, the lounge will feature live interviews with top-name chefs and comedians in town for the Austin FOOD & WINE Festival and Moontower Comedy Festival like Graham Elliot, Christina Tosi, Paul Qui, and Michael Ian Black. You definitely don’t want to miss this uniquely Austin experience, taking place in the glassed-in room overlooking Moody Theater, home of the iconic ACL Live TV show.
See you at the Fest!
