We’re going to go ahead and call it: April is Foodie Month in Austin
. Last night, local culinary and cocktail enthusiasts came together at the Driskill Hotel
for the first annual CultureMap Tastemaker Awards
– a celebration of the chefs
who continue to (literally) bring innovative ideas to the table, earning Austin a coveted spot on every foodie’s must-visit list.
So who won which award? Chef David Bull
walked away with the title of Best Chef
for his continually impressive fare at Congress
— a nod to Austin’s growing appreciation for fine dining and inventive cuisine. Uchi/Uchiko
swept in the Best Restaurant
and Chef Philip Speer
brought home Best Pastry Chef
Award — all further evidence of the indelible mark that Chef Tyson Cole

Last night was also Ambhar Tequila’s Austin FOOD & WINE Festival Preview Party at the Marketplace Hancock Twin Liquors location. Guests enjoyed Ambhar’s signature Blackberry Smash cocktail
while also sampling the full array of the agave-based spirits and snacking on authentic street tacos.
