That’s right, February 22nd is officially National Margarita Day! To help you celebrate it right, we’ve enlisted the help of Nate Wales — one of the Festival’s featured presenters and mixologist at La Condesa Austin has plenty of experience shaking things up — pouring inventive concoctions and old favorites alike. We step behind the bar with this master for a look at his take on the classic margarita. Around since the 1940s, there are variations galore of this classic concoction of tequila, Cointreau or Triple Sec, and lime juice. Wow your friends and your taste buds with Nate’s straightforward take on this famous cocktail.
Our margarita is a straight forward cocktail – 100% Blue Agave Tequila, proper orange liqueur, fresh squeezed lime juice and organic agave nectar sweetener all proportioned for balance.

La Clasica Margarita
- 1.5 oz El Jimador Blanco Tequila
- .75 oz Patron Citronage Orange Liqueur
- 1.25 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
- .5 oz Organic Agave Nectar
- .5 oz Filtered Water
- Combine ingredients over ice & shake hard
- Pour into a rocks glass rimmed with our house-made Cactus-Lemongrass Salt
- Garnish with a thin ‘floater’ of lime
