Throughout this year’s Top Chef Texas, viewers have had a culinary and cultural tour (albeit abbreviated) of Texas, not to mention a look at some mouth-wateringly delicious meals and mind-blowing creativity from a host of star chefs from across the country. It all came to an end last night when Austin’s own Paul Qui took the title of Top Chef.Though both Qui and Grueneberg call Texas home, Grueneberg is a Houston native. So we asked Qui — who currently lives in Austin — for his thoughts on what he loves most about the Live Music Capital. As with any proud Texan, he was quick to list his favorites:
- Bikes. Bikes. Bikes.
- Live music. Festivals year round. ACL, SXSW, etc. It always feels like there is something going on.
- I love riding my bike around the city.
- Great outdoors. The weather is great most times of the year.
- Friendly people. Southern hospitality, some of the nicest most sincere people live here.
Congratulations Paul Qui of Austin’s own Uchiko! Although last night’s episode could only crown one winner, you can see both Paul and Sarah Grueneberg together again and cooking things up at the Austin FOOD & WINE Festival on April 27th. VIP Passholders will be able to sample both Qui and Grueneberg’s creations at the VIP Kickoff Event with a special performance by Lucinda Williams. Congrats Paul & we’ll see you in April!
Paul, Sarah and Bravo’s Andy Cohen share a shotski after Paul’s big win.
