What They’re Saying

Well we know that you had a great time at the inaugural FOOD & WINE Festival experience…but what about the visiting chefs and culinary masters — what was the behind-the-scenes buzz? Take a look at what the chefs were up to in between demos, tastings and VIP events.

Even Sarah Grueneberg loved the opportunity to snap a quick picture with Top Chef judge Gail Simmons and mentor Tony Mantuano.

Just like the rest of us, famed dessert master Pichet Ongis a fan of late night eats from local Uchiko and East Side King chef, Paul Qui.

There is no doubt that the food was fantastic and drinks were flowing, but let’s not forget the Festival’s beautiful Texas backdrop. No wonder Gail Simmons was just a bit sad to leave behind our gorgeous landscapes and open skies. (We would be too.)

Iron Chef Morimotowas even having so much fun that he took minute out before his demo to immortalize the moment via his Twitter feed. #awesome

One of the best parts of the Festival’s laid-back feel and lakeside layout was how easy it was for the chefs to hop around from demo to demo and surprise one another. Just check out this candid moment from Marcus Samuelsson — famous chef friends!
