20 Wines Under $20: Part 4

In partnership with our friends at The Austin Wine Merchant, we’re showcasing 20 Wines Under $20 that give you the most bang for your buck. Check out this final batch of five recommendations from these local purveyors!

2013 Sangiovese Toscana Caparzo

100% Sangiovese from an esteemed producer of Brunello di Montalcino. Ripe blackberries, wild strawberries and spice on the nose lead into a warm, brambly palate full of soft ripe fruit and persistent spice. This Tuscan red is the perfect pair for Panzanella, spaghetti with meat sauce or pizza. ($9.99)

2013 Voss Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley

Bright and fragrant! Juicy peach and apricot counterbalance the crisp lemon and grapefruit notes. Flavors race towards the finish. Drink on its own or pair with grilled chicken or vegetable quiche. ($17.50)

Marietta Cellars Christo Lot 2

A rich, juicy Rhône-style blend of mainly Syrah, complemented with Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Viognier from Mendocino County, CA. Notes of black cherry, blueberries, lavender. Pair this “huge-hearted” red with BBQ brisket, pork or grilled meats. ($17.50)

2013 Schreckbichl Colterenzio Suditrol Alto Adige Pinot Grigio

Citrus fruit, peach & honeydew melon from grapes grown in Italy’s Alto Adige, a terraced valley near the Austrian border. Refreshing acidity sets it apart from other P.G. Perfect with salad, grilled white fish or chicken. ($14.99)

2011 Rioja Torres Altos Ibéricos Crianza

Red fruit, flowers, spice, silky. Serve with Iberico ham & cheese. ($12.99)
