Chris Monroe, Executive Chef at Unit-D Pizzeria, began his culinary career as a kid, washing dishes and bussing tables in his grandmother’s ice cream shop and his grandfather’s catering business on the East Coast. By the age of 14, he was stretching dough for an Italian pizzeria. Over the last two decades, Chris has worked in kitchens up and down the East Coast, in Puerto Rico and in Mexico, learning diverse cuisines with a significant focus on Asian and Italian. His Austin roots extend to Kome, Imperia, Hillside Farmacy and others. He recently relocated back to Austin from Tampa after leading the kitchen at Buya Ramen as Executive Chef, and playing an important role in helping the concept expand their operations. Chris is married, enjoys spending time outdoors and is preparing to be a father to his first child due in early April.
