I’ve been baking since I was a little girl, and being a picky eater, I’ve always been drawn to sweets. My Grandmother, Meme, has been a huge inspiration – she taught me everything she knew and shared some of her amazing recipes with me, I still use many today! At 16, my Mom gave me the best advice and pushed me to find my passion. She told me to figure out what I love to do and create a job around that! She gave me the support and guidance to try different things and once I found the kitchen, I never left. I knew I wanted to be a pastry chef. I didn’t really know what that involved, but I was determined to find out.
At 19, I headed to upstate New York to attend The Culinary Institute of America. I had a fabulous experience and fell in love with the restaurant world and New York City! Since graduating in 2001, I worked hard to find my path in the pastry world. I tried it all, restaurants, hotels, and bakeries in London, Portland and throughout New York City. I was always most comfortable in restaurant kitchens, I love the fast pace and variety of desserts I was able to create. My resume includes amazing experiences at Gramercy Tavern, Bouley, The Waldorf Astoria, The Savoy Hotel, Per Se and Parea, to name a few.
I co-owned Foreign and Domestic here in Austin for the past 4 years and created Saturday Bake Sales that drew such crowds and support that Bribery was born. I’m thrilled to bring my restaurant pastry chef take on baked goods and sweets! Bribery is truly a dream come true for me and I’m so grateful to still be able to do what I love everyday! xoxo – Jodi
