Born in California to a Chinese father and Thai mother, Mia learned early on how to cook from the soul. Mia has experience in everything from food trucks to Michelin star restaurants. She had been traveling Southeast Asia including places like Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Bali and decided to visit Austin after hearing about a Chef, Thai Changthong, and what he was doing with authentic Thai food in Austin. After trying Chef Thai’s food and instantly being transported to the streets of Thailand, Mia staged at the Whisler’s truck. Impressing Chef Thai with her leadership and cooking abilities, Mia was offered a Sous position to open the first Thai-Kun brick and mortar location (opened Feb 2016). Since opening Thai-Kun Rock Rose, Mia’s responsibilities have grown to include simultaneous executive Sous positions at Thai-Kun and (the former) qui restaurant and is now set to open Kuneho, Chef Paul Qui’s latest project, as the opening Chef de Cuisine.
