A native of Austin, Sterling Ridings got his first taste of the hospitality industry at the age of 15 in the dish pit of an Italian restaurant. Inspired by the back of house fundamentals, the creative environment, and the fast- paced lifestyle, Ridings knew he was destined to dive headfirst into the culinary world.

Upon graduating from the Texas Culinary Academy, Ridings accepted a full-time position at Parkside, the first concept from Parkside Projects, located in downtown Austin. Since then, he has built an impressive track record within the Austin food community—from being an integral part of the opening of Foreign & Domestic to becoming the executive chef for Hai Hospitality’s Uchiko. Ridings’ passion for innovative cuisine and French-rooted, Japanese- influenced style led to his next culinary endeavor at Guild, Chameleon Group’s third concept, which opened in March 2018 on North Lamar and is currently relocating to a more intimate space in downtown Austin.

At Guild, Ridings leads the kitchen, where he and his culinary team showcase their ingredient-driven, seasonally inspired, approachable New American menu. Like every true Austinite, Ridings’ creative talents go far beyond his culinary skill set. Prior to becoming a full-time chef, Ridings was a musician for 17 years and was the guitarist for his band, Trashy and the Kid, which was signed by Sony Red. He currently resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife and their two sons.
