I was born in Mcallen Tx in the heat of the summer month of July in 1986. My grandma and my dad have been a big influence on cooking. They both spent a lot of time in the kitchen where I watched and learned. I began cooking when I was 15 years old in Mcallen, I mostly spent my years working in small restaurants. I went to school at Texas State University where I graduated with a degree in Human Health and Science. I moved to Austin from San Marcos in 2012 and started working at justines within the 1st year of being in Austin. My first job was as a dishwasher there, I kept my nose to the grind and moved up through the ranks. Cooking is not just a paycheck for me, it is life. A good meal can change your day, it could even change your life. Being able to manipulate an ingredient to create this painting of flavors, textures, and smells is something I look forward to everyday.
