Chef Thai Changthong is the Head Chef of Thai-Kun restaurant group in Austin, Texas. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Thai brought his “O.G. Thai” food to Austin with a street food style “so good make your eye roll back.” After training under Paul Qui at Uchi and Uchiko, Chef Thai opened Spin Modern Thai with EK Timrek up North, but he later found his way back to working with Chef Paul Qui at Paul’s flagship restaurant qui. After Thai’s family meals became an instant favorite with the qui team, Paul Qui, Thai Changthong, and Moto Utsunomiya collaborated to open Thai-Kun. Head Chef of the only food truck to be named to Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best New Restaurants in America 2014, Thai went on to win Cochon Hertiage BBQ King Austin 2015 and is getting ready to open the first brick and mortar Thai-Kun location in February 2016.
