Chef Thai Changthong is the Executive Chef of Thai-Kun restaurant group in Austin, Texas. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Thai brought his “O.G. Thai” food to Austin with a street food style so good it will “make your eye roll back.” After training under Paul Qui at Uchi and Uchiko, Chef Thai opened Spin Modern Thai with EK Timrek up North, but later found his way back to working with Chef Paul Qui at Paul’s flagship restaurant qui. Thai’s family meals became such a hit with the qui team, Paul Qui and co-owner of East Side King Moto Utsunomiya collaborated with Thai Changthong to open Thai-Kun. Executive Chef of the only food truck to be named to Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best New Restaurants in America (2014), Thai went on to win Cochon Heritage BBQ King Austin 2015 and opened the first Thai-Kun brick and mortar in February 2016.
